Elements and Performance Criteria

Fix/secure cables
- Fix/secure cables utilising appropriate fixing/securing techniques
Determine job requirements
- Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs)
Comply with work health and safety (WHS) requirements at all times
Use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) in accordance with SOPs
Identify job requirements from specifications, drawings, job sheets or work instructions
Identify and mark conductors/cables
- Identify cables and conductors using appropriate test equipment and techniques
Label cables and conductors in accordance with procedures, legislative requirements and statutory regulations to specifications
Prepare and terminate cable
- Obtain termination requirements and specifications
Prepare cable ends and terminate cables to specifications, legislative requirements and statutory regulations utilising appropriate tools and techniques
Test/examine terminations for compliance with specifications
- Fix/secure cables utilising appropriate fixing/securing techniques

thermocouple/compensator cables, including MIMS

Tools include one (1) or more of the following:

cable strippers

crimping tools, e.g. RJ45 crimping tool

Terminations include one (1) or more of the following:

wire wrap (non-insulated and pre-insulated)

multi-terminal plugs and sockets,

terminal blocks
